     We know that even the simplest dental appointment can cause anxiety for some patients.  We also know that for some patients that fear can keep them from taking care of their teeth at all. 

     Because of this we offer oral sedation (not i.v. sedation) to our patients.  You simply take a small pill an hour or so before your appointment.  You are already relaxed before you even get near the office and can walk through the door without the reluctance and fear you may have felt before.

     The pill is a very effective, safe tranquilizer that soothes and removes anxiety.  You can be awake and aware (although some people actually sleep) but feel removed from what is going on around you.  You are responsive to directions from the staff and someone is at your side through the entire appointment.  One of the things patients appreciate about this medication is that they have little or no memory of their appointment.  They don't have the kind of vivid memories that play over and over in their minds as they might have experienced in the past.

     For those of you that need a number of appointments but don't have a schedule that allows you to break up your treatment over time, this medication allows you to be relaxed and comfortable for the longer appointments to get all your work done at once.

      If you gag easily this medication suppresses that response and allows you to have your teeth restored.
