At Above & Beyond Dentistry we enjoy giving special attention to our younger patients. We believe that a child's visit to the dentist should be fun, educational, and best of all, make a positive impression.

You can play a large part in preparing your child for his/her first visit. Any anxiety that you show can be sensed by your child, so try to relax. Just remember, the first visit is for “counting teeth”, “taking pictures,” and “tickling your teeth with our magic toothbrush.” Please don't use words like “hurt, drill, pull, and needle”. We try to avoid associations that so many adults already have! If we are doing a procedure that day, such as a filling, have confidence that we will treat your children as delicately as we treat our own, and make every effort to make your child as comfortable as possible.

We will take time to thoroughly explain each step to your child in terms that he/she will understand before we do anything. Depending on your child's age, we will probably ask you to wait in the reception area so that we can spend some time alone with your child and develop trust. Afterwards, we will invite you to come back to the operative area to review your child's history, diagnosis, or any specific problems. At each visit we will emphasize good dental hygiene techniques to be practiced by both you and your child, and of course, answer any questions you or your child may have.
